Job description

Working and managing the retail site in Lime Square Openshaw, East Manchester.

To lead and take responsibility of the day to day of both the security and cleaning team in order to ensure the provision of a safe, secure and clean working environment for the customers, colleagues, tenants and visitors.

Ensuring robust and consistent operational procedures are in place and adhered to within both security and cleaning teams.

To be highly focused on the achievement of all business objectives and excellence as standard.

Ensuring all onsite documentation is maintained to the highest standard to include documentation related to current legislation and meet with compliance and audit regulations.

The post holder must be a commercially minded decision maker with strong leadership skills; They must be flexible and readily embrace change.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships are also essential to liaise with all tenants on a regular basis.


Main responsibilities 

To be polite, professional and friendly at all times with customers, tenants and colleagues.

To ensure the highest level of customer care/service is adhered to at all times.

Be aware and develop an in-depth awareness of the shopping centre environment and industry.

To demonstrate a can-do attitude towards individual customer requests and strive to exceed customer expectations.

Collecting data of footfall, sales, trade feedback and creating KPI reports, working alongside and reporting to the Centre Liaison Manager and Operations Director.

Carry out daily routine checks of the retail site including health and safety and environmental welfare checks. Ensure the daily/weekly check lists are carried out accurately and all pending issues are actioned. Ensure the centre is 100% compliant with all day to day maintenance and upkeep.

Carry out staff rotas and work with cleaners and security to cover annual leave and sickness. Ensure all holidays are taken within the time frame and ensure adequate cover is in place. 

Be able to ensure the departments cost and payroll budgets are planned in accordance with centre requirements and company guidelines.

Mentor staff performance, attendance and time keeping and arrange any staff training as required.

Be able to demonstrate a willingness to continuously improve service through understanding the client’s requirements and expectations.

Liaise with external agencies; such as emergency services and public safety bodies to ensure a safe and disciplined environment.

Develop and drive the shopping centres operational strategy and objectives.

Monitor and test fire alarms, record meter readings for vacant units and communal areas of site.

Good communicator, high degree of integrity and honesty and a team player. 

Has a hands on approach to work, leads the team by example and has a getting the job done working ethos.

Displays a reliable, responsible, fully flexible can-do approach of work duties, with a passion to provide high standards of customer care and supports colleagues to achieve personal and team goals with the ability to drive and mentor the team.

Be able to demonstrate influencing and problem-solving skills with the ability to demonstrate strong leadership and people management.

Proactively support team members nurturing team development and communicate effectively and get the most out of people.

Possess the ability of team working and developing others.

Ability to work under pressure, be focused, passionate and proactively manage all responsibilities of the shopping centre.

Be able to focus on delivering results through promoting and championing business transformation and continuous improvement.

Prior management / supervisory experience needed of 2 years to achieve the highest standards in all areas of team and people management, customer service and the shopping centre.

Experience of security, lost and prevention, customer services and retail are essential. SIA badge needed with security experience of 1 year.

Excellent IT Skills

Event planning/experience – preferred not essential but has the ability to develop the events calendar for the delivery of services within the centre.

Must be fully flexible to work on a 7-day rotational rota.

This is a full-time position, competitive salary with pension and other benefits.

You must hold a full clean driving licence.
