Lime Square team gear up for the fifth annual Openshaw Festival!

The team at Lime Square are counting down for the annual Openshaw Festival which is set to take place on Saturday 7th September from 11am – 5pm. 
The festival will be located on site at Lime Square and is set to be a fun and friendly day out for all the family to enjoy. 
A new concept the team have come up with this year is to have different “villages” or zones for the different stalls and themes across the event. The festival will host five different villages: health, entertainment, craft, funfair and food which will be set out across the centre. 
As well as lots of activities, rides and crafts there will some delicious food traders offering a great range of different cuisines – these include Cyprus Kouzina who will be selling Greek food such as grilled halloumi and chicken souvlaki. Delicious wood fired pizza will also be available from SB Fire Creations. Lime Square favourite Marco Reas will also be selling his popular range of ice cream.
Craft traders attending include Gyna Craft Emporium who will be selling handmade items which include stationary, jewellery, candles and seasonal items. Cherish Melts will also be in the craft village selling various wax melts and room sprays. 
The health village will host lots of information and stalls offering free health checks as well as advice. The Gym Group are also hosting a free gym workshop on the main stage and Specsavers will also be part of the health village with a stall offering free hearing tests and health forms.  City in the Community will also be running a football activity.  
The entertainment village is going to be filled with various activities and games for people to get involved with and the funfair village will also be made up of a great line up of rides.
Throughout the day there will also be free donkey rides as well as face painting. As well as this live performance will be taking place from the main stage –  acts performing include the SAFE Ambition Youth Project, Urbanised Dance Academy, Mercedes Jo TDS Dance Group, Company Chameleon and Wright Robinson College’s steel band will also be performing which will be followed by their choir.
Events manager at Lime Square, Kayleigh Marron said: “We are very excited for our Openshaw festival and think it’s shaping up to be a brilliant day. There will be lots of great activities and entertainment across the whole day for families to get involved with.
“We‘re looking forward to a great community day working with some lovely local partners - fingers crossed we have some great weather for everyone to enjoy.”
