Plans unveiled for 2018 Openshaw Festival

East Manchester is preparing for the fourth annual Openshaw Festival at Lime Square in east Manchester with this year’s event due to take place on Saturday 22nd September.

A host of local businesses, organisations and groups are busy planning a packed programme of activities and entertainment for the event which will be hosted alongside Hits Radio Manchester Roadshow and media bus.

The team at Lime Square are working closely with other organisations such as Greater Manchester Higher, Manchester City Council, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue and Police Force as well as local schools, businesses and entertainers.

A food and craft market will also be part of the busy event as well as children’s fairground rides and some special sporting activities from local partners including Manchester City Football.

The Lord Mayor of Manchester Councillor June Hitchen will officially open the event at 11am on Saturday 22nd September. 

The event has been running for the last four years and is coordinated by the owners of Lime Square, Dransfield Properties Ltd.

Groups, businesses and organisations involved with this year’s Festival include: Lime Square, Biffa, One Manchester, Manchester Settlement, Openshaw Residents Association, Greater Manchester Fire Service, Greater Manchester Police, The Range, Manchester Science Museum, Greater Manchester NHS, Explore Learning Ashton Under Lyne and Greater Manchester Higher.
